I recently changed rotors/pads and took the front callipers off to get it painted so i let the brake fluid drain out figuring it would be better off to put new fluid in afterwards

I see now that it was not a good idea because brakes are not working unless i slam my foot down

Im guessing the fluid needs to recirculate some how

There usually is a relief valve, I have never done it on an SL but usually you have someone pump the brakes while you release air in the lines through the relief valve/s. I suggest you do a search of this forum to see if it has already been discussed.

Does anyone has a part number for brake fluid for 1999 SL500? Does all DOT4 work? The price difference is minimal (I think) so I would like to use the OEM fluid unless you think the aftermarket is the same. What is the best place to buy? Thank you!

Thanks.

I have found these OEM part numbers for brake fluid. Hope it helps someone else

MB PART # 000 989 08 07 01 (1L)
OR # 000 989 08 07 11 (5L)

000 989 08 07 10 (1L) is a can version of the 000 989 08 07 01 (1L) plastic bottle above.
