When I release the brakes, sometimes I get a pretty loud creaking noise that occurs directly with the release of the brake pedal. Doesnt Always happen but happens often enough. Could it be my brake pads going? Only 22k on them, they are EBC redstuffs with EBC rotors, but no sensor light, and doesnt seem like thats the issue. Any ideas?

I doubt they are worn out, but you can take a look.

Ours does it when creeping ahead once in awhile and it is the pads just nudging along
on the rotor when the brake pedal is released slightly. If I quickly release the pedal there
is no noise at all.

Now that I think it about it I think mine does it only when i creep along and go slowly. It may have done it all along but im not sure, just noticing it more now. Is that normal?

Remove the brake pads and take out the metal shim behind the pad then apply a little grease between the shim and pad - replace. Job done. Or you can do what my cheapskate workshop manager does and take the shim out and throw it in the bin LOL. Still effective though.

Hi.
I know I'm on the wrong forum guys, but I have the same symptoms as you described; so may be you can help me solve the problem. My ride is a 94 SL500.
So I have the same issue with the rear creaking noise: It happens ONLY when I release the brake pedal and only when the car is at Park. It goes like this: The car is parked; then when started; gear switched from "P" into "R" and slowly releasing the brake pedal. At that point and especially when releasing the brake pedal slowly and carefully that I would hear the creaking noise while I'm sitting inside the car...
It does it also when I switch from "R" into "D", but I would hear it very lightly as if there were no noise at all.
Now, one thing I noticed is that if I start the car in "N" and when switching into "D"; without pressing the brake pedal at all, nothing would happen: NO noise at all!
Something else I noticed: if I take the car on a long trip; let's say 200/300 miles; for almost 24 hours I wouldn't hear that horrible noise. As if after heating up a little the brakes wouldn't do it for 1 day...

I forgot to tell that I've refreshed the rear suspension almost completely(brand new rear suspension arms set+new sway bar link stabilizers+new Sachs shocks+H&R lowering springs+differential bushings+carrier bushings+ball joints). Only remaining the subframe front and rear mounts+the small sway bar bushes which are on the way right now...
That may be leaves the brakes as main culprit??

And although I feel like it could be related to the rear suspension: because it happens only when switching from "P" into "R"; and that the pressure of the brakes that compresses the rear suspension springs and which decompress them when releasing the brakes; it's more like brake noise than suspension noise.

Someone has got an idea..??
