I would like to paint my calipers, but do not like the available colors I have found. I would like them color matched to my yellow. No one I have contacted can color match high temp paint. The guy at Sherwin Williams almost has me convinced to try oil-based gloss. He says it is good to 250 F. The thought we had in our conversation is how hot do my calipers really get. I don't race or do too spirited driving. Besides if it doesn't work out I can remove the paint and start over. If anyone has serious concerns about me trying this let me know, otherwise I will let you know how it works out.

Anyone know how hot the calipers get w/ regular driving. Manual, light traffic.

Also, if anyone knows of a colored body part that is really easy to remove for color-matching I would appreciate it.

Here's another you might want to look at :

http://www.duplicolor.com/products/caliper.html

The thing is that brake calipers can't get all that hot. If brake fluid boils at 400 degrees F or less, then 400 degree engine paint for about $5.00 a can should be plenty good enough. [:p] I have used both Dupli-color and Plasti-cote engine enamels on my cars and then tracked them with no noticeable damage to the paint. There are plenty of colors available to choose from in both.
I wouldn't get too wrapped up in matching the color exactly either, because the first time you hit the brakes dust will settle on the calipers and change the shade a lot. [B)]
Obviously it's your call, this is just a "heads up".

I had no problem with G2 brake caliper kit off ebay. I bought it for 25.00 and saw the same kit at a car boutique for 52.00. It's a brush on paint that comes with paint brush( buy smaller one for fine detail)Paint, and hardner. very easy weekend task.

Does look good. I got the G2 yellow and painted them yesterday. I am happy with the results. Unfortunately my camera broke, so I can't get pictures up until it is fixed. Olympus, 5 months past warranty. My first Olympus and I have been happy with it until now, we will see if they get future business from me.

Cheap Mod

I put these decals on my calipers and I think it looks pretty good. They are supposed to handle the temps of caliper and that is what they are made for. They have been on a short time and so far they have been holding up OK.
