I would like to undertand the difference between the Brabus T12 upgrade and the RennTech upgrade to 600+ hp.

You tried ringing them up?
Yes, I understand what each of them say about their product and their competition.

I wanted to know what others thought or what their experiences have been.
what product are you guys talking about, and for what car? Sorry I don't know that much about this stuff. Thanks,

Those companies are tuners. They tune all Mercedes.
I read more threads from renntech than brabus in all the forums I belong.
ooooooo tuners you say?
so if ya want they can make your puppy go faster :) hehe drools

I think you read more about RennTech than Brabus because with RennTech you get 625 hp for $6,400 and with Brabus you get 560 hp for around $10,400.

Brabus says RennTech is ruining the engine as the engine is not capable over long periods of time of handling that much power. Obviously, that is not RennTech's position.

I asked in this post because I have no idea what is correct.

I am told and again I have no idea, that Brabus has a much closer relationship to Mercedes Benz.

Who knows any of this, which is why I started this thread.[?]
U interested of doing all that stuff to your sl600 lovin?

Have you considered Kleeman, or does anybody out there know about Kleeman?

Just thinking about doing the ECU upgrade in HP but have my reservations because as far as I can tell, either would void your warranty.

I don't like the idea of have the warranty of a $150,000 plus car from either RennTech or Brabus.

I have heard of Kleeman but didn't know they did the ECU upgrades. I know there are well known for their kits.

Not sure where Kleeman even is located.
Brabus will offer you, I think, a 3 year warranty on any engine mods. Whilst it offers less power, it will also mean that there might be less stress on the engine, and thus it will last longer then the Renntech mod.
Do a google search with Kleemann and Kompressor. They have a few dealers in Ca. I found a few things on their site about MB warranty issues not being a problem.

You are correct about why they offer less horsepower. They feel the RennTech horsepower is too much and destroys the life of the engine.

Both Brabus and RennTech offer their own warranty. That just concerns me because I know what is going to happen the first some anything goes wrong in the engine.

There will be a fight as to which warranty applies and that headache I don't need. Mercedes does a good enough job by itself in providing headaches.[:)]
Well, well, well! I am hearing a lot about this subject lately. I believe a can answer many of your questions since I have had the RENNtech up-grades. My dealer still warrantees my car and in fact I do proudly display the RENNtech badge on the back of the trunk lid for all to see. The modifications are calculated to be well within the stress limits of the vehicle. the man making the calculations is by far one of the world's foremost experts on Mercedes high preformance. He in fact ran the Mercedes AMG racing division for aprox. 15 years! Further, this man is responsible for many of the current ideas that lead to many of the current developments in the newest SLs. Very simply, the founder of RENNtech is one of the most respected men in the world of mercedes benz. (period) This is why I optioned for the RENNtech up-grades above all others and I have been extreamely satisfied with the results. By the way, you can ruin any car with the power it currently has!! Just drive it like a moron and it will fall apart just as quick as you please. But, respect the power, drive it accordingly and you will enjoy a long-lasting experience of high preformance beyond immagination. Now go get some RENNtech rocket power!!!!!

Brabus are definately closer to Mercedes. Brabus do to SMART cars what AMG do to Mercedes.

My dealer told me they would not honor the warranty with the RennTech upgrade.

I am going to ask them again.
Lovin, I can not explain the difference between the Brabus & RENNtech upgrades except to say that I was way more comfortable with the RENNtech upgrades after speaking with their technicians. RENNtech warantees teir upgrade to match your new car warrantee. Further, their TCU & ECU upgrades are completely reversable. If for any reason you decided to switch back or you are not happy with your upgrade, you can return the car to original MB specifications. Most importantly, you can do the upgrade yourself and it is totally undetectable even using star diagnosis equipment. If for any reason you had to replace either the ECU or TCU unit, RENNtech will return the unit to original specs. for you at no charge. Again, my dealer warrantees my car anyway but for those of you who are not so lucky, you now have options. For those of us that have the SL600, the potential upgrade is huge. For those of you with SL500s or SL55s, it is simply not worth it for the smaller gains available for these vehicles. Good Luck!

I would never get one done. You just know that as soon as you get it, things will slowly start to go wrong. And it's all very well returning the ECU to the orginal spec, but what about any damage caused to the engine or other components. The way I see it is that if Mercedes thought the car and engine could be better, they would have made it.
