Has anyone come across this problem? I have a '76 406 with 20 spd trans, I am attempting to mount the bottom mount high speed pto to run my high flow hydraulic pump. My transmission does not have an external oil pipe feeding from the bottom cover of trans to oil pump on intermediate trans. With the bottom cover of the trans off I can see the oil pipe going across from the feed to the oil pump back to the rear of the trans (I would have to remove this pipe to even install as it is in the way of the input gear on the pto).

How do I install this pto on this transmission without drilling and tapping the intermediate trans and removing oil tube and installing a plug where the existing oil tube is.

Arlen, The cascade box should have a plug threaded in the bottom where you can tap into for the oil line to go into. Then you will have to remove the oil feed pipe and put in a plug where the pipe is. This should do it. See the attached photos.

Von, Thanks for the info and the nice pix. However... my transmission does not have the plug in the bottom of the intermediate box. There is nothing but machined smooth metal from the oil pump plate to where the pto/bottom cover bolts on... no plug.???

I guess its time to do some drilling to reach the oil gallery, or get a different cascade case. If you don't have the side PTO, I have a PTO that fits on the cascade box that is for a high Vol. pump if you are interested in it. But then you need the cascade box with the opening on the drivers side. Let me know if you need photos.

I Guess it may be time to pull the tranny and do some improvements. Does anyone have a deal on a double clutch, intermediated box WITH OIL TAP (case only required), and a complete set on syncro's for my 20 spd trans???
