Really good stuff! It's a sticky, and it's in the Encyclopedia. Thanks, Gabby.

Here is a video dealing with the rear door panel.

Replacement of the rear DCM, and replacement of the LED module for the interior door handle has been added at post #10 below.

And here is charcoal filter removal....

More Info On Rear Door Panel Removal and Replacing DCM or LEDs for Door Handle

The link at http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w22...ace-door-handle-illumination-light-psngr.html, post #7, adds written information on removal of the front door panels to accompany Gabby's great video above. The pdf file below has photos for removal of the rear door panel, as well as for replacement of the Door Control Module and the LED interior door handle light. If you prefer a video, it is at post #7 above.

It is not necessary to remove the entire door panel to replace the LED modules in the front doors on some model years. One only need remove the door control module; the interior handle LED clips to the back of it. For instructions for the front door, the video Gabby provided above is excellent. Also see brian rice's how-to at http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w220-s-class/1631643-how-fix-interior-door-handle-illumination.html

It is also not necessary to remove the entire panel to replace the rear Door Control Module. Replacement of the DCM is discussed in the pdf.

The pdf file attached applies to cars with the LED module in the photo below. The front and rear door modules are the same, but they are different left to right. The part number for the right side A 220 820 04 21; the left is A 220 820 03 21. It is definitely necessary to remove the entire panel to replace the LED module for the rear doors. See how in the pdf.

NOTE: Earlier W220s have a different arrangement for the door handle LEDs; I have not seen it, and except for instructions on how to remove the inner door panel, the pdf will not apply. My car is an '05; if you have an earlier model, please check the part numbers against your model year or VIN before you buy. I do not know when the changeover occurred.

Don't miss Bryan Rice's excellent pdf on repairing this at http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w220-s-class/1631643-how-fix-interior-door-handle-illumination.html

Small update on this.

When removing the mirror housing on the driver's side, the clip to remove it isn't in the bottom, but at the upper left corner of the mirror housing.

You actually have to tilt the mirror down and towards the car and then you unlicp the tab up and pull the housing out.

I just had the pleasure of replacing my mirror thanks to the local bar denizens deciding that my car needed a makeover. Thanks to that, you don't have to wonder why there's no tab on the bottom of your '03+ W220.

To remove the actual mirror, there is a metal clip that you pop up behind the glass after you remove housing, unclip the lcd plug and cut (yes cut) the two wires connecting the defroster.

You then have to solder the wires to the new mirror housing and do everything else in reverse order.

Not only has this great thread been linked to from the W220 S-Class Encyclopedia sticky, the Encyclopedia has some additional panel removal videos that have been suggested by members.

This sticky was an awesome contribution by Gabby - but don't miss the additional ones either.

I keep reviewing the rear door panel removal video to get a view of the activities required. But, my project is different in that I can't get the rear door. So, I need some suggestions on how to get this door open. The lock rises when the unlock button is depressed, it comes up manually, but when the handle is pulled nothing. The handle doesn't feel loose, but door won't open. Any suggestions?
