I have a GL450 from 2011 (recent purchase). My iPhone 7 Plus connects great via BT, but somehow it only seems to work for calls.

Does anyone know if a software update/ similar to my COMMAND system will fix this? I have the Premium 2 Package so all sorts of fancy features and have a hard time believing that 2011 is _that_ long ago, that music streaming wasn´t natively supported in GLs yet but I may be wrong :|

I also have what looks like a iPod (?!) docking station in the glove box (see attached image).

COMMAND by the way only shows "Aux" in audio sources. Perhaps I can attach a bluetooth streaming device to the docking station? This guy seems to have good reviews as does this one.

this is the one you need. I use it in my 2001 GL 350. this is the only one that will work seemlessly with your phone for streaming music. The vehicle's own bluetooth will retain hands free calls. It will switch automatically between them. Also automatically start streaming from the last song when you start the car.

...but it comes without a cable and it seems impossible to find that cable :/. I just don´t know which one is needed.

gl350 comes with a number of cables that fit into the port in the glove box.

Those cables are available from the dealer, HOWEVER...I have tested many possible solutions, including getting the separate media interface cable from the dealer. They either don't work period, or don't work well. Trust me, the bluetooth dongle I posted will make you happy.

Thank you! After searching for hours, I just found one that SHOULD work... just ordered of Amazon. Seriously though... such a PITA to find old cables.

Will report back if that worked and else return both the Carpro and the cable, and buy what you suggested.

PS: needless to say that the used GL I bought did not have any cable(s) anymore, and I am sure the local dealership will take an arm and a leg to buy OEM cables...

my dealer was willing to open a package and let me try out the cables before I bought, so you could possibly try that with the unit that you bought. I tried many options before and nothing worked right. The bluetooth dongle that I posted will show songs on the MB display, and integrated with the in car handsfree perfectly. good luck.
