Folks I went and purchased a MB hands free Bluetooth device believe manufactured by Alpine for $100 from the dealership. I asked and was told that my model car does not have the option for the factory install. The stuff clips on the sun visor. Not pretty but better than nothing.

Any idea where I can go and get one done?

your car does have a factory bluetooth option, you need to find the exact right one and buy that then put it in the car. you can always buy these parts on ebay.
your guy didnt know how to look up the right thing. go to a different dealer

hands free blue tooth for 2005 SL500

the second owner of my SL500 told me the first owner had used the hands free/ blue tooth but had taken something from the car when he bought it and he hadn't used the feature. I dont see a plug in the center console for a "Puck", Is there somewhere else that it could be!

Bluetooth "puck" activates phone, but no music..

R230 05 SL500. Purchased the bluetooth puck on ebay (search: R230).

It arrived and installed properly, with easy pairing with my iphone.

So now the phone works ok, but I really wanted to play iphone music through the puck to the car stereo. Anyone have any ideas or experience in getting bluetooth to play iphone music through an 05 sound system? i'm even open to radio modification, if there is known solution.

Dension Gateway 500S BT

Consider using a Dension Gateway 500S BT. I have one in my 2005 SL500. It basically substitutes the CD Changer in the rear driver's cubby, but you can still access the CD changer via a simple switch (keeps everything nice and factory). Everything works perfectly with the factory head unit and steering wheel controls. When streaming music via A2DP the music artist/title information properly display on the nav screen, but not in the instrument cluster. Otherwise, this is a pretty good solution - especially if you want to keep things close to stock.
