Hi all, I turned on my A/C system this evening to find it makes a really loud whining sound when running. Heat and A/C work and there's still air blowing, but the sound is very irritating and gets louder when a higher fan speed is selected.

Here's a video of the noise:

It appears to be coming from somewhere behind the center vents. I assume this is the blower motor. Is there anything I can do to fix it? Or is it time to buy a new one?

Thanks.

It was a leaf! And some other crud. I cleared it from inside the blower motor case, put everything back together and no more noise! Several hours putting everything back together (and chasing a dropped nut) and all is fine.

Thanks.

I replaced my blower motor a couple months ago and it was tricky. Getting the wiper motor out wasn't that bad, but getting it back in rough.... had to send the kids in the house. :banghead:

There was a ton of crud in there, mice like to bring their snacks in there and never pick up after themselves. I used a shopvac to clean out what I could reach.

The old motor had plenty of brush left, but the bearings were locked up. They did start to squeal when they were getting tight, so you may have a replacement job coming up soon.

I used to have trouble with the blower motor melting, but not blowing, the fuse. Then the fuse would be loose in the holder causing it to lose contact and stop intermittently. It's easy to get to, right by the hood hinge on the driver's side. I ditched the merc fuse and wired in a blade type.
