Maybe you are on EMPTYalready. Fill it up that will solve the problem.
Blinking Fuel Light
My Fuel light started randomly blinking today when I was at a stop light. I pulled over, turned the car off and back on and it went away. Has anyone seen this before and if it needs to be fixed[?] Thanks!!

tighten your gas cap.
Happend to me, cranked it up and it never happend again.

It will blink if the fuel cap is not tight. Assuming that you did not have low fuel or a loose cap I would consider this a random abnormality the went away when you rebooted. Had this happen once in my 98 years ago and never in my 02. Most likely will not reoccur.
