I tried to help out others with the last post about the junkyard finds

There is another yard here in south florida that is NOT nearly as cheap as the one I usually go to

However there is a 1993 black on black leather 400e that is all intact minus the mass air sensor

It has the asr throttle actuator that was replaced. it has a date code of 1999

You should grab that ETA regardless and sell.

Here in LA there is some guy who seems to live off Pick'n'pull ETAs and harnesses. And why not? Better he grabs them and sells them for a markup than more cars get junked because only choice is $1500 from dealer.

Check the main harness too, if it has a new date code you would be doing someone a favor.

I replaced both of those units on my 400e with used (but date code after '97) on mine.

I still lost my shirt when I sold it but at least kept my pants since I didn't pay dealer new costs for these 2 crucial items.

If you are reading this and have a 400e and think yours "might be ok" with originals...THINK AGAIN. They will fail and in the worst way possible, with minute errors that are occasional and hard to repeat when in a service facility. When I think of the stalling at lights I lived with because I didn't want to believe these items could fail on ME....It took laughter at a light as I furiously attempted a restart while holding friday 4 PM traffic in LA at bay with my dead W124.

I agree with all of the above.

I am lucky to have 2 nice parts yard within 20 minutes of me.

I have a tone of parts for my car in storage. Been driving mercedes for 15 years now and every one I end up with more parts in storage just in case...and in just about every case i need it.

I'll grab the eta and look at the harness. Wish I had the ability to pull the interior..Its in really nice shape..black leather is soooo nice
