Hi All,

I just started to have an electrical gremlin today. When I went to drive in to work this morning, the interior light would not turn off after I started the car. I just played with the switch, and turned it off manually. My drive in to work was fine. After work, I drove home no problem. When I got home, I turned off the car, and the radio turned off like normal after I switched the car off. I had to get a package off of the passenger side floor, so I opened the passenger door, picked up my package, shut the passenger side door, then the radio turned on! I cycled the car on-off a few times, and the radio finally turned off. But now, if I push the on-off button on the radio, it will come on, even if the ignition is shut off. :confused:

Does this portend a doomed battery? Is the radio supposed to work with the ignition off? Maybe I just never noticed that before...

Do I need a new Eingleschattgrapuffzendingelgammergeheimblatz ($16,799 for the part (backordered 6 months)and 175 hours labor)????:crybaby2::eek:

I really hope the ignition switch is not going out on me!

Any ideas???

Thanks!!

The factory radio should come on even with the ignition off and they key removed when you press the power button. Of course it should not come on by itself.

OK, guys thanks!

I was playing around with the radio, and the on/off is VERY sensitive. So I think that when I closed the door (with a hip check) it was just enough of a bump to turn the radio on. :D

It's actually a nice feature... to be able to turn the stereo on while waiting in the car (and the engine is off). Key doesn't need to be in the ignition for the stereo to be operational. Mine turns off itself after 30 minutes. If I want longer than 30 minutes, I just need to press the power button again.
