hi benzworld.

I need bigger brake disc for my w123 230e 1985 to legaly register it,
I need to know if there is other mercedes models with bigger disc that fit brake disc with a w123 230e ??

Calipers are staying stock, and spacers will be machined to fit the brake discs..

brake bias will also remain stock at start.

any suggestions ??

thanks for the help :)

Best regards
Jens L

Get the disks and callipers from a w126, they are thicker and vented but fit on the W123 hubs. Can't keep original callipers due to thickness. Series I W126 you can keep your 14" wheels, Series II you will have to run 15". Have the Danish authorities introduced new requirements to improve on braking ?

okay, thanks gotta go with series II w126 but gotta do some seaching on them first of :)
any other options ?

They are gonna be fitted on 15x7" rims
I Need the disc size to be close to 300mm on the front and 280mm on the rear..

No the danish authorities actualy improved modifications requirements, so it is now possibly to put in a bigger engine if just the brakes are the right size and brake bias is proberly for a handling and brake test :)

My boss has a newer v8 i need id on in a different topic, I think its a 4.2 v8 from a w124  but not sure yet:rolleyes:..

Ironically, even with the original discs my car's brakes are so powerful that I always run the risk of locking up. That can only be fixed by ABS...

No. The locking-up is determined by the traction between the tyres and the road. If the wheels can lock up despite small or weak brakes, it will lock up even sooner with bigger or more powerful brakes. But if traction isn't a concern, then bigger or more powerful brakes will result in shorter braking distances and times.

I have new toyo proxess TR1 tyres in 205 front and 225 rear.. that should be the widest tyre for the w123 as far as i have been reading, but have not mountet them yet so not even sure if they fit..
if those tyres dont do the job. toyo r888 is next..

about locking up i belive it is the driver and of cause not a to big brakemaster and the right brake bias in a combination .. the danish regulations are only concerned about brake disc diameter when it comes to the braking part, it is stupid yes, but the rules just need to be understood so it gives them what they actualy want, which is short braking disctance and no overheating..
but im still happy about the danish goverment starting to consider modifications on cars and motorcycles.. before this we were allowed allmost zero modifications..

About that caliper and brake disc upgrade from a w126 series II. i can find a 4piston caliper from a 560sl does those fit the stock w123 hubs as well ?..

i would not bet money on a 560sl 4-pot fitting your w123.
the r107 and the w114/w115 shares the same construction in the front,

the w123 and the w126 shares components.
the gen2 w126 discs is 12" /300mm so those would meet the requirements put by the danish gouvernment.

ive run gen2 w126 on two w123, one om606turbo and one om602 turbo.

the om602 turbo ive since then sold, but that had softer springs, more of OE w123 sort. And the dive when braking was enough to keep the brake-bias perfect. it had a bit of a tendency to lock up in the rear.

The om606 has some stiffer H&R springs, and despite the heavier engine in the front it has a tendency to lock the wheels/brakes in the front.
