Want to be ripped off, don't read any further. I ordered a set of stereo keys to remove my radio from Autoware 302 through eBay. They sell these keys for $1.00, and charge $3.00 shipping. I needed the keys (so I thought) and ordered them. As soon as I placed my order, they (Autoware 302) sent me an email asking for positive feedback. The keys arrived today, 11 days after they were ordered, in a sixty four cent regular envelope. So someone is making $2.64, to stuff and lick an envelope. BTW, the keys weigh less than 1/10th of an ounce. Yet another shameless seller on eBay.

So for four bucks you got the keys? That's still a good deal. Half the stealers won't sell them and those that do charge ten bucks or more. (One wanted $30 for the cluster hooks.)

Sorry if I don't seem to sympathetic on that part. But I would agree that 11 days is far too long for shipping.

I'm a bit confused - since the best price autoware302 offers on eBay is $1.00 + $1.50 shipping = total $2.50, and you chose to buy the same item from the same seller for $1.50 more.

AUDI VW MERCEDES STEREO RADIO REMOVAL TOOLS SET KEY - eBay (item 390271512291 end time Dec-19-10 16:29:23 PST)

Audi Mercedes Vw Porsche Radio Stereo Removal Tool Keys - eBay (item 330505498949 end time Jan-05-11 17:48:42 PST)

So was it slow delivery that bugs you or is it really the fact you blew your own extra $1.50 by paying a seller more than you had to if you had done a quick eBay search ?

You don't even need these keys!!!!!

Here are 2 alternatives:

#1. Get 2 tow nail clippers (most of us have them);) Use the nail filing thingie and stick both of them into the square holes and BOOM! It comes out.

#2 Get 2 very narrow knives that fit and stick them in and BOOM, it comes out!

I hate when people take the short cut route. Did you take the short cut cheap route when you went to buy a car? No. You bought a Mercedes, not a Honda. Act accordingly.

Pictures are everywhere of the things...next time you're in starbucks, snag one of their gift cards, measure the width of your slots and cut two strips from it lengthwise (slightly narrower than the width you measured), fashioning one end of each to the arced point to replicate the pictures.

Advantage: Finally!! A use for a Starbucks card!

Disadvantage: You can't trim your toenails (or tow nails?) with them when you're finished.

Tried that. Turns out the gift card has to have a value of more than $20., otherwise the Becker LED gives you a "Increase Card Value," message.

When you're a seller, there are many ways to attract different buyers on eBay.
1. Price it at $1 plus $9 shipping.
2. Price it at $2 plus $8 shipping.
...
9. Price it at $9 plus $1 shipping.
10. Price it at $10 plus free shipping.

If you're a buyer, the total price is your only concern.
When the item arrived to your mailbox in a sixty four cent regular envelope, consider the fact that the seller had to lick the stamps. His/her licking effort cost more than you think.

Beware Radio Key Tricks

Too risky to use anything not fashioned like the key with the little notch the clip can sink into (red circle in pic), so that you have the leverage to pull out the component. Otherwise there is nothing to grab onto except some plastic buttons.

Really wish that I had never seen that stupid idea of the nail file from the swiss army knife post. I broke some plastic underneath the climate control auto button and had to super glue and baking soda it back together.

And it would be a good idea for those who post the alternatives to let others know they could break something if they use an instrument that is too fat or does not catch perfectly.

I have the keys now and it is way too easy.

Top-rated ebay seller got it to me in 2 days:

You're assuming that these sellers are (or use) professional lickers. I like using the companies that employ amateur lickers - they need the experience.

Wait, your LED display works?;):p

Okay, that's enough for me for this thread, except to note that cbc atl makes a good point, which is why I suggested the cards, as they won't scratch anything. You still have the potential issue of something to grab onto, but if you don't want to way 3-11 days and spend $4-$4+x, then it's an option.

Really? I made some and worked fine. But I did find that the store bought ones work the best. Ah....$3.00 to $4.00 at wally world. Yes the tools are sold in a multi pack for Ford and what ever next to the radio stuff. Good luck!
