I want to upgrade the wheels on my 1991 560 SEC and wanted to get your guys' opinion on what would look good on my car. I would like to get some wider wheels and maybe even larger, but give me some ideas as what would look good on my car.

BTW, that coupe is owned by satish, who runs the mbcoupes.com website for SECs. check out the member's gallery, hasn't been updated in awhile, but you can see lot's of different rims on SECs.
87 SEC with 18x8.5 with ET38 rims and 20 mm spacers, 245/40/18 tires.

Hey Mike, there must be some sort of conspiracy. Your photos don't show up here either. Any luck getting your car in the mbcoupes members area?? LOL!

Of course, everybody knows that Def-C's SAAB rims are the pinacle of desire.

Hey what is the name of the rims on that black 560 SEC and what size are they. Do you think they would look good on a car thats a sort of goldish color?
Monoblock II's, in an 18..Not sure what width Satish runs though..

These are the rims I order last week for my 560SEC.

Those will look good. What size did you order? Is it a multi-piece wheel or are the bolts just for looks? You should consider painting the inside the color of your car to match.

I got 18x8.5 and 18x10 and they are one piece but they look like a two piece wheel. I pay $1,450 for them and they are being ship from Germany.

igor how are you?

i guess you got a good job to buy those rims right?
Igor's rims look great, but I couldn't get myself to pay $1500, for a set of knockoffs. I mean, this company isn't noted for making a high quality wheel.

I'd wager that they are heavy 1 piece wheels, all flash and no substance. You'd be amazed at the difference between a no name knockoff and a wheel from a quality manufacturer. It's all about weight, structual integrity, and balance. I don't think this wheel, while looking great, can claim any of those qualities.
Very true, the fellow who invented the rim straightening machine that is used all over the world is local here in Atlanta. In speaking w/ him one day he had nothing positive to say about these new knock off wheels that have come to market in the past few years. The quality of alloy they are using is no where near that of the esablished manufactures (OZ, AMG, BBS etc..). His opinion was either do it right or don't bother as there is to much at risk.

If you spend the time a good used set of quality wheels can be had for reasonable. I paid 500$ for a set of AMG monoblock II's, 17 X 8.5, the rims were in near perfect condition. Took me about a month or so of watching Ebay w/ regularity but it paid off.

Morris,
Here is my 1991 560 SEC, I went with AMG 18 x 8 on all fours. Just to rotate the tires, if I ever put that much mileage on it. I only have 88,000 on the car. This is my baby. Even my wife loves this car...

Yes, you can never go wrong w/AMG Monoblocks. They are timeless, just like the 126.
This is second hand original WALD rims...
