I just priced them in Bozeman Montana-in the 425/20 size. They were in stock in CHICAGO, and the freight to Bozeman was about $200 for 4 tires, and the Tires were $1200 a pop, so $1250 a corner.

Do you have a Kal Tire price on the 425's ?

As far as a full set of XM-47's ...

5 TIRES - 425/20's = $6250

5 DISC BRAKE 11-20 RIMS @ $250 each (?) = $1250

The package = $7500, plus tax.

So, you are pushing $8K with tax depending on your state sales tax. Montana
has none....so that would help on the tires, at least.

Sorry, I don't, I was going to sell mine (405's) and purchase the 425's, but once I found out the stock 130hp engine turning just the heavy and wide surface area 405's would actually slow down my truck, I decided 425's would be a bad idea ;)

The stock rim's won't take the 425's?

The stock rims will take the tire, but they will hit things towards full lock. With the Drum Rims ( with 6" wider track), they will still hit at full lock on a Right turn...or was that a left turn...?

...I see your point about weight but to me the mechanical advantage far outweighs the less weight of the Stauns. Being that I've installed and removed the Stauns....they are a pain in the a.. to repair on the trail. Mechanical Beadlocks make more sense when replacing a tire without spoons...plus you can keep your rim on the truck while you do it....I can't say you could do that on a truck much less removing one side of the bead if your replacing a Staun because the tube went out/burst. If you were replacing a tire you'd havet to take the whole rim off and debead the whole tire then put the new tire on...position the Staun...mount the other bead...inflate...deflate and then inflate the inner then outer....Certainly the Stauns have advantages...I just see alot of work...as far as running as a run flat...maybe on Sand but at $200-260ea that's a pretty pricey innertube to be driving hopefully on sand while at 0#'s. They do make runflat magnesium inserts for hummers and the larger military trucks. I have personally not put my hands on a 20" yet but I have heard about them and seen them in pictures.... On another note...I personally like the idea of no innertube. I can see the security in a rocky area by running tubes but just a normal inner tube for a 10.5r20 tire or a 11.00r20 tire is $40ea. My .02cents...Get a good quality tire and if you going for Stauns...then make sure you buy a few extra inserts just in case. Money wise....They are cheaper than a full set of mechanical beadlocks but to me it's a win for Mechanical when you figure durability, trail friendly, ease of maitenance, and simplicity and safety. Both are DOT approved at least the military ones are.....and if you have CTIS then it's a deffinite win because you just push a button instead of getting out a putting on the deflators.

Hi Guys,

Update on the Stauns. In Short, they will not be available anytime soon, if ever from Staun.

Staun Australia has gone out of business. They spun off their deflator's and those are still available through the Staun network. However, the beadlocks are done. Harry Lewelyn (Staun USA) has begun the process of sourcing and building the beadlocks here in the states, however after discussions with him it is unlikely they will be doing anything on the 20" beadlocks anytime soon. They are focusing on the the primary movers and 20" beadlocks were never really a good seller for them. I can attest to that as over the last 6 years we sold maybe 10 sets.

At this point, it looks as though this option is dead in the water. There is no question install can be tedious with a bit of a learning curve.

Cheers,

Scott Ingham

Poor Eric is probably slumped over his keyboard suffering from terminal XM47 sticker shock.

I'd love to run them but the cost is beyond prohibitive :)

They are hands down the best "investment" I ever put on my truck. I say investment because there cheaper than an off-road tow truck ;)

I will say on sheer ice there less than effective, which is why I'm STILL looking for chains.
