The best price on a new harness will be from Parts.com. start saving up your $$ to also replace the lower harness and the throttle actuator. Both are made of the same eco junk soy based wire insulation material.

I'm thinking I may need the throttle actuator. Is it built into the throttle body? Can u remove it snd buy this seperate?

same part more or less. You don't have a throttle body per sey It's the large unit that the MAF is attached to. Electronic throttle actuator. If you go the ebay/used route, make sure the build date is post 1998. BBA Re-manufactured for the rebuild route.

If you can't verify the ETA has been replaced, it is doomed as much as your upper harness was. Same goes for the lower harness (which is easy to rebuild). Lower harness feeds the starter, alternator, oil pressure, oil level. If it shorts out, you'll most likely have to replace the oil pressure and oil level sending units. The oil level sending unit is inside the lower oil pan.

Good Luck

Hey all!
On my 96 420, I found just the coaxial crankshaft position sensor cable needed replacing. I used a donor from another Benz found at a junkyard ($2.88), which lasted for a short while (See thread entitled, "99 ENGINE HARNESS"). They appear to go bad near the pigtail end, and an old one will probably be subject to failure shortly. Using a NEW donor cable/pigtail is apparently the way to go. Any suggestion/direction here on a source? Sizes, Etc.
Thanks!

99 is not subject to regular failure, find out what is going on with your car. either excessive current draw burning the insulation from the inside out, or mechanical fatigue rubbing and cutting the wire wrapping...

3. The rear sun blind.

VIN # 140032 2A 254518
