 I have a new MB tranny that I was going to put in my 98 E320 I was told by MB that this tranny will not work for the 98 E320. MB could not tell me what the tranny will fit, just that it won't fit mine. Can anyone help me ID this tranny? P/N is 210 270 1701/80, 722.605. I would like to sell it. I would like to know the the years and models it fits. Thanks for any help I get.

Sorry I do not know. I would think that any dealer parts department could look that up by the number and tell you. Were you asking a dealer or MBUSA?

The 80 on the end mean a rebuildable core. Usually means if you bought the tranny from the dealer or a specialized transmission dealer, there would be a core charge.

This tranny (722.605) has not been used on a 210.065 (112.945 engine) but has been used on a 210.055 (104.995 engine), I assume you were advised on this basis. Of course a part would fit if it has been used by the factory for that model but it could still fit even if never used originally on a particular model. This isn't straightforward to see from the documentation (even) MB shops have available.

The part anyway must fit when MarcusF says so.
