in the morning when I start up the car (2002 cl500) there is a squeaking/screeching sound coming from underneathe the hood....it goes away after about 5-10 minutes after the car has warmed up

It looks like its coming from belt in the front by the radiator...

serpentine belt replacement time or does it need to be tightened?

thanks

Depending on the age and mileage on your belts it may be time for a change. If you can get a flashlight and look down at the belts, push on the belts and look at the inside of the ribs... if they seem to have any splits or cracks inside, its time for belts. Otherwise you could have a pulley that is bad. Any decent repair facility should be able to diagnose the problem if you are not able to do it yourself. If belts or pulleys are needed, do them right away... a very reasonable fix compared to the $$$ problems caused by a broken belt or locked up pulley. Good Luck.

No problem. If you are familiar with changing belts it should be fairly standard of a job. However, having a lift and doing belts from underneath is a very good advantage. For the hour or so of labor you will be charged for the job, probably better to let your mechanic knock it out for you. Good luck, and hopefully your issue is only belts :)
