Had to pull off my instrument panel to replace a bulb and I came across this switch. Can anyone identify?

This is middle left of the cluster recess.. you can see the windshield wiper mechanism behind it. That also appears to be original Mercedes wiring?

Is the button depressed when the gauge cluster is reinserted? This is interesting..

IIRC, it is part of the factory alarm system. If the cluster is pulled outward, the alarm system would be triggered. I seem to recall it on W126’s as well where the cluster could be removed easily.

It appears original type wiring, and I guess you could very well be correct about it being part of alarm system. This is a mainly original euro version. Thanks you for solving the mystery.
