I heard the Becker Map Pilot option turns the standard 5.8" LCD into a Navigation unit. So you do not have to spend several thousand to get a built in 7" Nav system. (Multimedia package and P1 package required) Any one have any insight on the Becker Map Pilot. It's an $800 extra which seems like a reasonable price to get turn by turn and audio navigation.

I think what you've heard is correct. Test drove one with the Map Pilot last night. It is on the smaller standard screen. I don't think the screen size is an issue as I use my Iphone in my older car. Can't compare with the navigation in the multimedia package as I haven't seen it...

Correct.
I have my 2013 SLK250 on order now. To get the becker map pilot you have to order two options:

1) Accessory Code: 508 Becker Map Pilot Pre-wiring $200USD
2) Accessory Code: 001 Becker Map Pilot $600USD

Will display on the standard 5.8" LCD as well as provide next turn, etc... information on the central dash display.

I can't wait to for my car to arrive!
Cheers,
Duncan
