Hey guys,

Just got myself a beautiful '85 300D (no dash cracks! rust free in the northeast! always dealer serviced until it mostly sat garaged (!) for six years after the PO's husband passed away) and I'm working through the couple small issues. I thought the Becker Grand Prix was totally dead but saw last night that it illuminates at night with the rest of the dash. The main fusebox seems fine (replaced the #2 just in case.) I'm betting there's another fuse behind the radio, but I'm thinking if that fuse was out the thing wouldn't illuminate at all.

Does that sound correct? Is this baby just dead? Do I need special tools to pull & replace?

Thanks,
J

Good news -- replacing the fuse located in the plastic holster behind the radio got things working. Just a note -- I read another post where someone paid an exorbitant price (plus shipping) to get this fuse from Becker. They are available at Radio Shack in packs of four for $3.19. You want 2A, 250V Slow Blow (marked T2/250V on the fuse itself.)
