I've read many of the posts about integrating an MP3 player or iPod into my stereo system (98 E320, Becker 1692, w/Bose) but I don't see any solutions that are exactly what I am looking for. My needs are perhaps a bit simpler than some. I don't want to control the MP3 from the head unit or anything fancy. I also don't care about using the CD changer in the trunk any more. (After all, I ripped all my CDs and loaded them into my MP3 player, so what would I need it for?) I just want a clean and simple way to play music from a small MP3 player without dangling wires or sacrificing the sound quality.

So, my solution should be pretty simple. Just tap into the CD player signal inputs and plug the other end of the cable into my MP3, right? I can't see any reason why that wouldn't work. My only issue is that I would rather not cut any of the original wires if at all possible.

So, does anybody know of someone who sells the wiring harness that plugs into the back of the Becker head unit and goes to the CD player? If I had that, I could just unplug the original and replace it with my own. If I can't find that, I would need to know the pin locations and maybe I could rig it myself. Does anybody know the pinouts or where I can get them?

your correct. If you don't want/care about a CD player, there are adapters to let you play your MP3 device through the CD player input or you could easily wire it in yourself. I think the becker site lists the pins. Do a web search and you'll find a multitude of sources that will sell you the cable if you so desire as well.

The complication is for those of us (myself included) who want to retain the CD player AND use an MP3 player. About the only option is the becker mod, which by the way is very clean. I mounted the aux input in my center console glovebox and its easy to use.

Thanks for the replies. If I did want the CD, I think the Becker mod would be a good option. I just finished digitizing all of my CDs though, so keeping the changer operational is just not a priority for me. I'll check in with Becker first and go from there.

.
Do you have any links for adapters for our car? Mine is a 2000 E320 but does not have the cd changer installed.
Thanks
