I purchased my Becker 2662 from SW Stereo Specialists out of New Bern NC. Their tel.# 1-800-270-best. <br>The unit comes with a mounting bracket that screws right into the existing holes on the support bracket<br>next to the right wheel well where the c/d plyer mounts. If your radio code starts with BE, its a becker headunit, if Al, it is an Alpie unit. both work with the Becker 2662 but with the Alpine head, the randam shuffle does not work. The unit is fairly easy to install and the adapter plug is set up so that you can not reverse it. The power cord goes directly into the unit. I have had mine over a year and no problem. The Alpine unit that M/B uses has a plastic case, that is one reason that they have a mounting box surrounding it. The Becker unit has a steel case surrounding it. You can also go to the Becker Board if you have any questions. The Becker Unit with the bracket was appox $425.oo if i remember correctly. I have been very pleased with it. BTW, don't worry about the fibeer optics, the only way for those "wires" to get screwed up is if you kink them.

Yeah, but....

Yeah, but what about the whole issue with drilling the mounting plates. I read other posts like yours (which is why I bought the Becker) and listened to the wonderful salesman at Continental only to end up getting screwed on the install. I lost a week wasting time with the Becker unit and wasted money on shipping and MB service time. I agree that the Becker is a good unit, but the whole plug n play self-install process is farsical (just my opinion but it is based on my experience and subsequent frustration).

It's pointless to buy the Becker if you don't install it yourself.

If you're buying the Becker, you're doing it to save a few bucks, why bother if you're going to pay the dealer $100 or more to install it.<p>BTW, you can buy the OEM M-B changer from http://www.autoclass.net for $450 plus the cost of the mounting bracket (around $75), plus shipping.

I agree. That's why Becker dealers need to disclose all of the facts to you. You can also get the OEM MB Changer from Clairparts although it is $580 ($680 list).
