This car was not sold as the seller has stated. I finally went and looked at the car after a lengthy wait for him to get the proper car title. Upon inspection, I found the headliner had areas of detachment and was saggy in a few places with more to come. The clear plastic covering over the instrument panel had very noticeable micro-cracks with discoloration from age/sun. The rear view mirror had the typical light green ooze on the black trim from age/heat. The front struts need to be replaced, soft and mushy, the seller disagreed. At least 2 of the injectors were leaking significantly at pre-chambers, demonstrated by soapy water test. The seller refused to do this simple test for me during negotiation. Both plastic protective under-engine covers were missing which I noticed while laying on the ground. I did not attempt to have it put it up on a rack so I cannot speak to undercarriage and suspension parts.
The advertised as working ortho seats did not work and had the tell-tell squealing leaking sound when trying to inflate. The seller vehemently insisted the ortho seats were working perfectly, I beg to differ. He stated in his ad that he spent 1800 + on refurbishment of the car, in actuality it was 1400 + as I noticed this small exaggeration on the refurb invoice.
Also there are some kind of sap droppings/runs along the right rear quarter panel that seemed to be embedded on the paint or more likely clear coat? The car had been buff waxed but the sap? runs remained. All the rims have some minor curb rash.
So in my estimation, the car was not as stated for the asking price. This irascible seller remained firm on the price so I departed knowing I learned a lesson about difficult sellers, caveat emptor. I realize a firm price is his prerogative. In full disclosure, I must say that I only saw the sellers brother in person during the inspection and he was a nice person. I was only able to speak to the seller over the phone due to his work and he his phone opportunities were limited. I suspect this car might be easier to sell on Craigslist at that price?
