the voltage between + and - on battery terminals for a car on OFF is 12.2 V and for a running engine at idle with AC, turn signal, lights on ... it is 14.4 V.

Ok or time for a new battery? 12.2 V seem a little too low for me.

12.2 is not out of specs, and at least your charging system seems healthy. Have a load test done with a battery tester. How old is the battery?

my w140 has a 5-6year old interstate battery and it holds 12.2v too. but i can leave the car for about 2 weeks parked and start it without a jumper.

also if your using a multimeter its not as accurate as a load test.
