My Battery Indicator (a picture of a battery) came on this weekend on my 08' ML320. I had not driven it in 7 days. I've gone longer without driving it in the past and when it was cold so this was a little odd. I assumed it would go away, but after driving 2 hours (1 hour each way) the light continues to stay on. I now have all functions available (Nav, Radio, fans, heated seats, etc.), although there is a chance that the fans were not running for the first 5-10 minutes after starting it up. Although it could have been warming up too. All other functions were running since I started it.

I'll take it into the dealer but wanted to see if anyone had any ideas first. If I go in "blind" I'm sure I'll have a fair size repair bill. It's seems like it wasn't sitting long enough and the battery is too new for a low battery problem to develop. I would think this is a warranty item, but maybe not.

I'd appreciate anyone's thoughts on it. Thanks.

Reddirt, you have an '08 ML. You will have NO repair bill. This is what your 4yr/50k mile bumper to bumper warranty is for. Use Service as much as you see fit. You paid for it, the warranty is part of the price of every car. Don't ever let a dealer try and charge you, while you car is under warranty, and you need something besides from scheduled service. If you are given flack, call 1-800-For-Mercedes and report the dealer! Good Luck!

Tomorrow I have our B-Service on our 2008 ML320 CDI. One of the extra issues is the battery symbol that has shown white since January and there have been no detectable issues so far. The service personnel did suggest they have seen a few problems with the transmission battery and they will check it out. If it is the battery it requires the right front seat to be almost removed and the main battery to be removed to get to it.

I will report back after tomorrow's service.

I got the same problem. Car is only few weeks old. Didn't use the car for about 2 weeks, and now I have white battery indicator.

UPDATE:
Seems just to be a low battery voltage caused by stand still. After some driving, it disappeared and havent come back for 2 months now.

I had mine fixed in about 3 hours. No charge, no issues. Love the service and I can forgive a bad battery issue. It's an ancilary piece. They probably got a bad batch. So long as there is no charge to me I'm fine with it.

I will say I've been thoroughly impressed with how issues like this are dealt with. I guess I'd expect just a little more push back. It's good service for sure.

The results of my B-Service and battery check was that the auxiliary battery was faulty and was replaced. No other issues were detected. The battery was warranty work and the service rep said the battery issue is not uncommon.

Hi C-Rod, how did you make out with your repairs, i have the same problem with the "white battery indicator" on after our 5 months winter escape, although i have a 2 amps charger on all these time and parked in a heated garage, it starts good and runs good! What and where is the auxiliary battery? Do you know if the warranty be the same on the Canadian models? Please advise.:elefant:

i've got to say, i don't really understand why any of you wouldn't think ANY mechanical or electrical issue with your car wouldn't be covered by warranty... short of a flat tire or cracked windshield, any issue i have is going right to the dealership.

that said, this aux battery is definitely a significant defect... way too many of us with the issue. at least it's a quick fix -- and hopefully a lasting one
