Good Evening All,

I have 2 W220's and S280 and an S500L.

The S280 fires up perfectly even after 10-14 days of not being started. The S500L - if the car is not started up every 2 days the battery drains out to the extent the the doors don't unlock and the engine does not even "click". I have to manually open the boot using the key and then jump start her - leaving the donor vehicle running for 10 minutes or so before the S500 starts up.

If I drive or start her every day the battery does not drain down - it only happens if she is left alone for a couple of days.

Any ideas or am I better of taking her to be seen by a specialist who can plug her in and get the fault codes?

Many thanks in advance.

Hi. I just had a read of this and its pretty helpful and clear as a read. Many thanks for that. It also makes a bit of sense as I took her out last week and after switching her off noticed something still making a sound from the centre console. Everything was off and it was not the fan/ac unit. It could well have been the Comand unit. It only stopped making that noise after an hour or so.

Will investigate further and keep the forum posted.

One more sub question - I have a heavy duty jumpstarter pack. I can open the car boot(trunk) (where the battery is) but not the door as the key turns but does not do anything. Can I attach the jump starter pack to the car battery and get enough juice to open the doors? Would that work?

Many thanks again.

Hi,

Yes, that is absolutely what I would do, but get that Door Lock fixed asap, as if your PSE Pump fails or gets spiked you will be right royally screwed ;)
Also note that if that Battery has been down a while, it may take an hour or more before the PSE will normalise and open the C/L

HTH,

Cheers Dave

Ok Great Dave, will get that seen to. If the PSE takes an hour or so to normalise and open the CL will the portable power pack work to unlock the doors in that case?

Hi,

Your power pack will be fine.

It doesn't always take an hour, just may do on the odd occasion, I've only had it happen once or twice, seems to be usually when a Car has had dead battery for a long time.

Cheers Dave
