What brand of batteries are you running in your W201s?
I just got a brand new Interstate Megatron Plus. Got a good price from the local indy auto parts store.
I've always had good luck with Interstate and get 5-6 years out of them on average.

I've been using the dealer batteries. Its a great battery and says MB on it. Looks good under the hood, but maybe twice the price of a Wal-Mart battery.
I think the MB battery says Made in Portugal. Nothing like shipping a lead battery across the Atlantic!

Almost all conventional batteries in the US are made by Johnson Controls. Batteries are distributed regionally (thicker plates in hot climates, more surface area in cold climates), so for best service, don't buy mail order. Otherwise, they're much of a muchness.

Just replaced mine about 8 months ago with an Interstate. Car is diesel that uses a bit more juice. The replaced battery also an Interstate that was 10 years old! Why 'fix it' if it ain't broke?

I only use these. They are silver calcium and are rated for 7 years unlike most car batteries. When I bought my CLK the battery was original and still working fine. They are made in Germany (white top) Or Spain (black top) and then brought here and filled. I think they are worth every penny. I paid $130 for the last one installed. Hint If you call MB roadside servince they charge the same price as the dealer and will install it for you for free.

I agree, I was installing a data circuit at a battery company years ago and they were attaching labels to black cased car batteries. There must have been a dozen or so different brand labels.
