Hi there,

I'm educating myself for self-service on my '03 Vito 109 CDI. The manual says inspect the Poly-v-belt every year and change if worn or damaged.

What exactly does the belt drive? eHow says "Usually connected to the crankshaft of an engine, a Poly-V belt runs through a series of pulleys. These pulleys connect to engine accessories such as the alternator and the air conditioning system, rotating them in order to make them function."

I've no air conditioner, so what else besides the alternator do you think it drives?

TIA, Barnyard.

I changed mine the other day along with a tensioner pulley aswell, on my 112 cdi it runs the alternator, air con, power steering and the water pump, the other pulleys are the crankshaft pulley, 2x belt guide rollers and the tensioning pulley :)
