hi everybody .
Looking for your help again I have same problems last month .
since temperature drop down I have same situation every day .
After I start my car on the morning and leave it for several minutes to warm up I have BAS, ESP ETS ABS CHECK ENGINE lights on - almost every time when I come back . Its happened when I was driving also .
Not every time , but when it's very cold . Also it's cut off one cylinder durring driving (not every time ) .
I changed sparks , MAF sensor and it was looking ok , but today morning after cold night I left my car running to warm it up , and when I came back I had all control lights on .(BAS <ESP< ETS< ABS, CHECK ENGINE )
After I Turn off the engine , and start it again everything working good .
Next morning same situation again....
What I need to check ? Any ideas ?Thinking about spark wires , mayby that will help?
thanks

I am not a mechanic but I had a similar problem with ESP/BAS light coming on intermittently especially after applying the brakes. I had it checked out and it turned out to be a defective STOP LAMP switch. Part is located behind the brake pedal. For an ML320 2002 the P/N is 0015456409. Part cost around $40.00. If you never replaced it might be worth trying.
Good luck.

I think its more that stop light switch . It's also cut off cylinder during driving when I speed a little more . My car is ml430 I got 113.000 milles . I think it can be spark wires or 02 sensor , just looking if anybody have the same problems , becouse it also happen when I got my car warming up on the morning without driving . All those lights control BAS/ESP/ETS/ABS/ 4wheall drive / CHECK ENGINE lightning on the same time

Hello Kezsel,

I am not a mechanic either and I am sorry to hear about your continuing problem.

Just for clarification; have you ever changed your brake light switch as asked by earaim above?

I know you think the brake light switch is too minor to cause the sort of problems you describe; but it CAN cause the BAS/ESP lights to illuminate and the truck WILL exhibit all the symptoms you have described as a result of the traction systems 'telling' the truck to cut power etc.

It cannot hurt to change it as it's cheap and an easy DIY fix.:)

I will try brake sensor , as you said . And the problem with codes is that Auto Zone can't read them when check engine lights is not lightning . Every time I restart engine check engine light is off , and car seems to be 100% ok .
Most of the problem like I said happen when I was driving on highway , or on the morning when I was warming my car . So after turn off , and turn on engine back all control lights went out . That's happend several times so far.
Also scary part is on the highway , when it's cutting off cylinder so your speed rapidly going down , and you have to pull on the side to restart engine.
I went today to Auto Zone to check codes , they said that they can't read it because check engine light is not on .

how often do you change the brake fluid? every 2-3 years or never. The abs hydraulic unit could be rusty inside due to the moisture in the brake fluid. Because if it is intermittent, it's very likely due to poor contact as a result of rust. Again, I am not a mechanic, this is just my educated guess. My friend has a ML430 and never changed the fluid, he got this same expensive problem.

I have never changed it. It's a 2000. But I will sure try that inexpensive option. I was just also informed of someone on eBay that will repair the electric motor that is in the unit for about $150. It will take about 3 weeks. The vehicle will still be driveable during this time. I will have to do some more investigating on this when I get home this evening. Thanks for the brake fluid suggestion.

Based on your earlier description it seems that you have bit different problem than I did have awhile ago. But just in case....

In my ML500 (2002) the BAS, ESP ETS lights turned on when I started to drive. Once speed was approximately abt 15-20mph lights turned on (I guess that is the speed when the ABS system activates???). In my case, it was a bad ABS system relay (K25).

My mercedes dealer checked all relays and found no fault. The lights are on as soon as the vehicle is started. Temperature has no effects on the lights. The vehicles is parked in a heated garage that is +15c. Then is driven in -35c. I have also tried turning steering wheel lock to lock. The dealer found a hard fault code that cannot be cleared until abs control module is replaced

And what was the hard code? You must have paid for the diagnosis, so call up the service manager you dealt with and ask him to supply you with the code.

Hello all, this is a update to what I've done in regards to my dash lights on.
I removed the abs control module and sent it away to get it rebuilt. The cost of doing that was $105 for the repair and $160 for shipping. It took about 10 days. I reinstalled it the evening I got home, it took less than 15 minutes. Took it for a test drive. No lights on, but 5 minutes later same situation....... Very frustrating. I went back to my dealer to see if the codes could be cleared. But to no avail. The codes still showed that the abs pump was at fault.
One of the techs told me to check to see if the wiring coming from theabs control module are rubbing on the frame.
Went to the shop. Removed left front wheel and splash shield. Everything ok. My only solution now would be to relace it. I found a new unit in the U.S. for $1500 . I am going to do this then put him up for sale.
I have a friend at the dealer who's got his eye on an ML63 for me when it comes in on trade it's an 08 with 40000kms. Hope the guy trades it in soon

How do you know for sure that it is the module? I have intermittent lights coming on and have resolved that it is a can communication problem. Seems like kind of an expensive risk to take...

I think bwjnguyen has right idea. Easiest way to fix = ignore....Or in my case give my wife the car to drive...She is even better at ignoring.

I read a post where other members fixed the brushes inside the ABS module and the BAS/ESP lights is off completely. It's quite cheap (only $15 including shipping) and it takes 1-2 hours to have its replaced. So while I am still ignore the light, I will order those and give it a try as preventive maintenance and you never know, it might fix the problem.
