1984 380sl...with a never ending 02 light on, my HC count was 121, with a mas allowed being 122, CO was .20 with a max of .77 being allowed, NO was 807 with a max of 1081 allowed, so my hydrocarbon count was at the top, while NO was also high, CO was well within the limits....what should i make of all this? what needs to be checked and replaced? thanks.

High HC means you're running rich, high NOx means you're running hot.

the tech said i wasnt running rich because my CO levels were acceptable, i said if i have unburned fuel...isnt that to rich..he said not..u have a decent fuel mixutre, its just that your car isnt burning it the way it should....1/2 full or 1/2 empty?
Unless he was able to produce unburned O2 readings, I'd say you're running rich. Too much fuel with not enough oxygen to burn it means you're running rich.
