Hi all, I am new to this forum, looking to buy a 08 CLK280,It's Australian delivered, 104,00 km's. If someone could decode the VIN for me it would be much appreciated. Vin is WDB2094542T097626.
Thanks in advance John.

Here's the data card:

If you are looking at it for potential balance shaft issues, as a MY2008, it will be beyond the range.

Hi, this is my first message. Recently I acquired a CLK280, year 2005. VIN: WDB2093541F188960 and engine M272 272940 30 267394. I would like to know if the engine is in the range affected by the balance shaft. Thank you very much in advance for the help.

Can someone check mine - I didn't know there was a law suit about this
WDBTK75G86T069594 clk500 2006
I'm at 81k miles.
I had some computer transmission thing replaced where I'd be driving then the car would just shift into 3rd gear at random - I had that fixed, no issues since

How do you claim this if there is an issue

I did a vin look up and the engine is V8-GASOLINE ENGINE M113 - so it do not believe this is one of them

Yes, there was a lawsuit, but the window is closed. I think it was for a maximum of 10 years from date of manufacture, I think it was for the original owner only, and I believe the amount they grudgingly paid wasn't enough to do the job anyway.

On the bright side, it was mostly for the 350, only a very few 500s were affected.

What I AM sure about is that Rudeney will correct me where I am wrong - and I appreciate it!

Actually, no "500" car were affected. For the V8, it would be the M273 450 or 550 engines. The M113 500 was not involved.

It's a MY2006 - no need to check the VIN - it's in the range.

First of all, I have moved this to the correct forums since your car is a W209, not a W209. Second, the M112 2.6l in your CLK240 was not involved in the balance shaft problems. Only the M272/M273 engines are a concern, and only from 2006-2007 (plus the 2005 R171 SLK350).

Hi looking at a 2007 CLK350
Can I please get a VIN Check?
WDBTK56F57F209563

Go to this site and plug in your VIN to get the build sheet and specifically your engine's serial number:

Then refer to this for the affected ranges:

Hi, I don't understand how to look up the vin # to see if my engine is a affected by this problem. My vin is WDBTK56676TO69749 . My Milage is about 135000. The engine appears to run fine. No codes on my CLK350 . Should this be a problem and if so, how would I know.
