Hey everyone,
does anybody know when it's time for injector seal replacement? I know the test with the carb. cleaner but what are the symptoms of bad seals? When my car gets warm, it idles at about 600rpm and sometimes feels like it's surging!

Thanks for the reply,
Do you mean lumpy, as in idle going up and down(600-750rpm)?
Very inconsistent!

I'm pretty sure that is what he means. When air gets in the hoses and spots where it should not be, it leads to fluctuating idle. Surging sounds to be fuel related, it might be time for a new air filter, fuel filter, or just a plain old tune up.

Thanks Mike, I've done a complete tune-up including fuel filter but, I did not change the air filter! I'll replace it today. That should smooth things out, I hope!

I have replaced them , when your low idle is loping / surging - say 500 - 1000 rpm its most likely injector O-rings . At 500 RPM you have the highest vacuum in the manifold ,thats why it leaks / sucks air -changing the mixture . The O-rings are cheap .but a bit labor intensive for non mechs. The injectors have fragile plastic grooves / steps ,that can crack /split while removing the old ones , cut them off with an xacto knife or pinch them up to one side and roll over the top ,if they are not to hard. but cracks or missing sections on the injector they still work fine.

Thanks, I'll replace them this weekend!
I'll post my results. If this works, the smile on my face will finally come back. My car has been nothing but dissapointment, the last 4 months!!!!!
