So since I need to wait until Christmas Eve for my new ignition tumbler to get here and the key has been extra finicky, could I leave the key in the ignition and turned just a hair past where you can take it out without killing the battery? The radio doesn't turn on and neither does anything else but idk if it would kill the battery or not. I just want to make sure I can still get it to position 1 when the time comes to change it and I'm paranoid about it locking up between now and then. I know it probably sounds stupid but if it won't drain the battery I'll leave it like this during work for the week. There's a 0 possibility of my car being stolen there. Thanks for any replies or anyone telling me I'm stupid lol.

It wont kill the battery, but as posted above, disconnecting the battery would be a safe bet.

I just remembered that the safety thing kicks in where you can't start the car without turning the key all the way back. I tried it at the gas station so either way it wont work. Thanks for the replies though.

Put the new tumbler in last night. I didn't know using a screwdriver would work. Wish I had I would've done that before. Oh well it's all good now.
