Back-Seat Drivers wanted

Any of you guys with back seats want to let us 2-seaters know what we're missing out on.

I'm seriously thinking of purchasing the rear seats for my SL. I guess I want to get my 5 year old to cruize around with me every now and then and figure the back seat will do for her. I just dont know if she would fit back there. I dont want to make that kind of investment and then find out that theres not enough room and I just wasted $1500 on a dead end huntch. If it was cheeper I wouldnt think twice about it.

Anyway, she always asks me for a ride but the law prevents me from putting her in the front seat.

What should I do folks? Pros and cons anyone?

How tall are you? 'cause if you roll your [driver] seat all the way to the back (which I do), there ain't room for her legs.

It will make the car look cheap with rear seats, IMO. After all, it's a "Roadster".
I think you might also find some difficulty in safely locating "occupant restraints" in order for her to ride safely -- regardless of the aesthetics.

I don't think the 560SL's look bad, but the 129 cars just don't look right with the jump seats IMO .. especially your wonderful Silver Arrow.

As lnguyenh say -It depend on how tall you are. I´m 70.2 (180 cm) and that means that it´s only 1.95 (5 cm) left for legs in the backseat. However, I have driven with 2 adults in the backseat, but that means that you have your nose in the windsceen.

The seats is building less than 1.95 (5 cm) extra, so you could measure in your car, if your daughter fits in the backseat.

Oh man, I dont know what to do. On one side I know you guys are right about the having no space for her legs. On the other hand, I love how SL60's back seat fills in that crawl space so well. There are different types of back seats but the one in SL60's is the only one that looks so much better than those other types from performanceproducts. It looks like it belongs there. But are the looks alone reason enough to buy it. Dam.... I cant decide. Wish someone was selling theirs for a good deal, I would buy it for sure. What to do....what to do...
If you ask me your crazy. The car is a 2 seater and should only be a two seater. If you need more seats drive your other car.
WERE THE BACK SEATS AN OPTION ON SL500'S? IM LOOKIN AT AN 98 SL500 SPORT. ITS THE FIRST ONE I HAVE SEEN WITH A BACK SEAT. WAS IT AFTERMARKET? FACTORY? HOW CAN YOU TELL?

Yes, it was a option. Code 565 - cross seat in the rear, rear seats instead of package tray.

Thank you all for your replies. I think I'm gonna pass up on the idea unless someone emails me with an offer more resonable than $1500. I just cant justify the cost for the few times that I would like to take my 5 year old for a ride.

And yes, the clk is quite nice, but the in my oppinion the SL is second to none[;)]
WHAT COLOR IS YOUR INTERIOR? IM CONSIDERING GETTING RID OF MY JUMP SEAT. ITS BLACK. ID LIKE ROOM TO PUT SOME WOOFERS AND I DONT HAVE KIDS.
LET ME KNOW IF YOU WANNA DO A SWAP PLUS CASH.
I have a grey rear seat that I got aftermarket. Interesting that I had MB factory seat belts in the rear compartments when I got the vehicle. I do not use the seat anymore. My kids are too big. Won't take out the belts but if the seat works for you color wise let me know. Would exchange for a hard top hoist that works for a pano top.
