I had a 500SL a few years ago and then a 560SL a year or 2 ago. Just got a nice 1985 280SL with under 76k miles and will be delivered to me this week, it just got on the truck down in Atlanta and now heading to Wisconsin. Here are a few pictures! Now I have to sell my beloved 1994 E320 - W124, which will be really hard to do.

Nice! Where in WI is it going to? I'm in Waukesha County and have seen exactly 3 physically (1 of them is mine) and 1 in pics.

It's going to Racine Co. Caledonia. Small world!! So you have a 280SL too? How long have you owned it?

I have a 74 450SL, same color as your 280--red with a black interior. I have owned the car since 1993--26 years. It wasn't old enough for a Collector plate when I first got it and I had to have it emissions tested on a dyno. Needless to say, It got a collector plate the next year. There's a red/tan 560 in Mequon. I know there are more around, but it seems people in WI don't get them out. Mine just went into hibernation for the winter..

Nice, wow 26yrs, that's great! The previous owner of mine bought it in 1989! 30yrs, I've had my 1994 E320 for 5 yrs and love it and am attached to it, it will be hard to sell it with this new car taking it's spot, I can't imagine the connection to a car owned for that long!

Good luck with your "new" 280! I think you will be pleaed with it. I prefer my 280's to the 560 I used to own. The 560 simply felt too much on the ponderous side of a grand touring platform. The 280 feels a bit lighter on it's "feet"!
