I am sure there has been a few ( at least 1 ) threads about MPG's but I would like some recent observations. What MPG's are people getting on there CLK320's? High mpg and average city/hwy mix would be nice.

I have a 430... as anyone will tell you it all depends on your driving style.

12 isn't unreasonable for me if it's been a bad day and I'm driving like an idiot. 23 on the highway happens all the time too when I'm busier listening to my music than passing.

My CLK55 AMG gets about 10-12 MPG city with me driving very conservatively, very lightly on the brakes and gas, and only break when I need to. I allow the car to go forward with its own momentum when possible, and overall just driving as economical as possible. On the freeways I usually get 18-20 MPG depending on how far I drive.

430, 19 City, 29 Hwy? Are all your streets downhill or do you just have no stop signs in Kentucky?

If I reset my meter at 65 on flat ground it'll read 27 ... add in any acceleration and braking and that goes out the window. Do you have some modifications?

This is what I can get on my W209 CLK 240 (2.6 V6 M112 - same as C240). Photo of cluster taken after recent 250 mile non-stop trip. The MPG of 38.3 is the best I've ever recorded!

My car has been having a lot of problems the past 3 months and my gas mileage has dropped quite a bit and it turns out one of my most recent problems was that my heads gained a gap which is big enough to let coolant in and causes a huge white cloud of smoke to trail behind my until it warms up and the metal expands to close up the gap enough for the smoke to not be visible. I went back to my hometown this past weekend and its mainly downhill. 120 mile trip and 1,100 ft elevation change. I averaged 21.3 mpg at 80 mph and 22 mpg when I would go 70 mph. Well I got some head gasket sealer and drained my coolant/antifreeze and added water for the sealer wouldn't clog up and drove it home with that stuff.
My gas mileage jumped to 29.3 mpg at 70 mph and 28.4 at 80 mph when able. And that was climbing back up 1,100 ft stretched across 120 miles. My car has never had such good gas mileage.
Can that really fix the problem so well that it runs even better than before? It really surprised me. I now it was throwing off the computer and causing 02 sensors, 02 circuit and multiple misfire codes to pop up. Schuler Autohaus (Mercedes Specialists) said all those codes were false after plugging it into there mercedes computer and that me heads were messed up. I just don't see how its better than before.

Hi Keyhole

Heres my worthy photo for my slightly smaller CLK 230K with 150K+ miles on...

3hrs drive
153 miles
50 mph average speed
40.3 mpg !

I do this journey each week and enjoy every minute of the 3hr drive, I normally average about 34mpg but thats doing 70 to 80mph, If I take my time it can be 40 mpg !
