With my SL500 the windows go down slightly when opening and closing the doors to avoid hitting the convertible top. That function has just stopped functioning and I'm wondering what the cause could be. Anyone else run into this?
I had a similar problem with my 2002 CLK320. Thanks to reading your post, my problem is now fixed..! :thumbsup:Great...I'll give that a try!
Thanks again for your help.....very much appreciated!!
is there any way that i could add this feature to my car? or it is very costly so it is not worth it?The window drop feature was first implemented in models '95 and up. That is one of the main reasons why '95+ models have different controllers. The switches in the doors that detect the window position are different in late models, and the controller relies more on memory. The downside is, the controller needs to be reset when the battery has been very low or has been disconnected for a while...

There is no hesitation after pushing the window switch.monte129,
thanks for clarifying that. By the way, would you please complete your profile with your location?
I have not dealt with the comfort drop not working (dropping the windows all the way down with a single click, as opposed the windows lowering just a little for soft top operation). I think there are some folks on this forum that could answer your question better if they have had to troubleshoot the issue before.
The intermittent operation makes me consider some loose or corroded wires or contacts. When the drop feature does not work, do you feel some hesitation right after pushing the window switch?
