Hey people, I am so glad I have found this forum! and it has a dedicated v class section..
I have a 1997 v230 ambiente [kitted out] its an automatic, my problem is It gets stuck in park and takes ages to release sometimes - this is probably old news to you guys, from my own deductions it would appear that after engin turned on and warmed up when the break pedal is pushed I dont always here the click in the gearbox to release from park, at the moment I am managing it but I am worried it may just get stuck and won't release any:confused:more... any suggestions much appreciated.

is it going into "limp mode" (limited to 3000 rpm)? If so check the connectors on the top of the gearbox for corrosion. This was the cause of all my gearbox problems.

Hi
Prise off the cover round the gear lever. There is a solenoid operated locking pin here (from memory it is on the lower left side). The pin retracts when the brake light operates.Try spraying with wd 40 etc and pushing pin with a screwdriver. If this fails check brake light switch and connections/wiring. Possibly try applying12v to solenoid to see if this is working ok.
Best of luck

Hi there.

Its not gone into limp mode, but has done before, exclamation mark was lit on dash, I left it and it was OK the next day. I will check for corrosion.

Cheers
