My Automatic Belt Tensioner Pulley disintegrated last night and messed my serpentine belt up. MB dealership quote, $697 ($246 for the Automatic Belt Tensioner). They were going to replace the entire Automatic Belt Tensioner assembly but all I need is the Pulley. I have been unable to find even the Automatic Belt Tensioner let alone just the Pulley.
It appears that they may be mislabeling the parts as an Idler Pulley or Idler Tensioner Pulley.

Does anyone know where to find the Belt Tensioner Pulley or even an entire assembly? Would be much cheaper than buying from MB Dealership.

Trying to post a pic that I took showing the ABT.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Here's a pic of the parts involved. Changeout of the tensioner does not look to be a breeze unless you are a determined DIYer. It involves:

1. remove fan.
2. remove poly belt.
3. lock tensioning pulley
4. unbolt shock absorber at cooling pump.
5. unscrew bolts of tensioning device.

^^For a pro, about four hours but DIY anything from 8 hours to two weeks :D
Seriously though, you cannot buy the tensioner pulley on its own, and must buy the whole tensioner.

Below is the pic of the tensioner...its not possible to simply remove the old plastic pulley and replace it with just the new pulley from the Belt Tensioner assembly?
Have also spoke to a mechanic that told me that all it is a pretty easy fix...about an hour or so. Make release tension on the Belt Tensioner and make sure the belt is aligned and in routed properly.

Thanks.

This very good link shows that it can be done - but probably it's a bit rough on your knuckles....:)
If they want to do it that way then OK, but get lots of band aids ready LOL Also they should understand that it will be difficult to see and fit the belt properly after and a misaligned belt could cause serious damage. So be careful with this chaps.
