I just received two Mercedes factory front brake rotors from them.

They arrived all scratched up and gouged!

Right now, I'm pretty aggravated but will
post pics soon.

They shipped them loose (I'm not kidding), and they are a big
mess!

I can't believe they were shipped like this.

I will use FCP Euro from now on. Never had a
problem with them but they didn't have the
Mercedes brand rotors in-stock.

Sorry that happened to you, and thanks for posting for others to learn about.

For rotors- I typically buy them from a local MB dealer and pick them up, as shipping can be pricey on rotors (I know some vendors include free shipping).

Thanks. I can't believe they shipped them bare (no Benz packaging) and loose in transit.

Two heavy brake rotors flopping around in a box. What could go wrong? 😬

When you buy yours at the Benz dealership, are they in boxes?

FCPEuro is good. Stay away from Summit racing. Delays in getting their products and no live bodies to chat with if you have an issue.

Sounds odd concerning Autohausaz. Everything I’ve gotten from them is properly packaged. Worth a phone call to get replacements.

I've ordered disc rotors from FCPEuro as well. For all five MB cars, good results. Also, MBOemParts.com has good prices on them with half-off shipping.

OK, are the rotors from MBOEMParts, in factory Benz boxes? I would think so.

Anyhow, here's the rotors which arrived today. Not the greatest pictures but you should get an idea.

They look worse in person and they are definitely not fit for use with new brake pads.

They will be fine if you install them. That coating wears off quickly, and it has to, for the brakes to work. None of those gouges are deep enough to impede function.

I would be upset too at the lack of care.

Your call on what to do, but I would just get rotors from the local dealer. They had the best price when I shopped several years ago.

And they don't show up looking like that...

Those are absolutely fine to use
The scratches will come off with the first use of the brakes that’s just the coating to prevent rust during shipping that is worn off the first time the brakes get applied

I'm a Master Tech. These are not getting installed on my Benz.

You can't "feel" the gouged metal like I can, just by looking at the photos.

It's not just cosmetic damage on them, take my word on this.

I will call them Monday. They simply don't deserve the business, doing stupid things like this. It's their loss.

I have spent thousands on my car in the past year, and have more parts to order.

Be careful who you do business with. I haven't had a problem with AutohausAZ until now but they aren't getting a free pass for shoving 2 brake rotors loose, in a box.

Sounds like you’re just trying to get some free rotors but ok whatever . You’re the master mechanic .
??? What are you talking about? I don't want these for free. I want them call
tagged and either replaced or a refund. Yes, I am a Master Tech and unlike
you, I actually work on my own vehicles. And obviously I have much higher standards than you.

It's ridiculous that you spend nearly all of your free time posting advice when
you take your Benz to a dealership service department and write them a check.
You're a paper mechanic and as others have pointed out before, you don't even
own a W220 any more.

Find another hobby besides insulting people on a car forum.

I posted to make others aware of a vendor with reckless shipping practices,
nothing more.

Lol I’ve never taken my Benz to the dealership . I have five w215 Coupes currently , which are Basically the same as the w220, a w221 s600 And several other MB cabriolets . Did I forget about the w220 just because I sold all my w220s? Absolutely not . I sold all my w126 coupes and sedans too , But haven’t forgotten a thing about them .

Yes I pay to Have them repaired , and there’s nothing wrong with that . I’m the one who buys the parts and chooses the parts Vendors. I love how you try to knock me because I hire someone to work on my cars , When without people hiring you , you would have no job .

I have Extensive personal experience from owning these cars over a Dozen years and Know Their Specific issues. With over 20 Mercedes, You Tend to learn a lot About them .

I hate seeing our fellow forumers arguing bitterly. I beg you to lay down your weapons and go back to the healthy spirit of discussion we all try to nurture here.

As for the rotors themselves, I agree with both sides: I would complain to the vendor for the lack of care in shipment, but I must admit I would have no problem with installing them.

We are getting a lot of this lately, tbh I am getting fed up with it, there is a thin line here, I already gave a guy a weeks sabbatacle not long ago, and when I get p'd off enough with it I will be dishing them out like Smarties ...............................

To use this thread as clarification, the only post I have a small problem with is #12 , and in particular the second paragraph, which I have "only just" let slide through as to be fair, their was no profanity, and also the Guy who posted it has been here for just over a year, (although only posted 24 times in that period) so all that and more will be taken into account !!

My judgement was further compounded by the fact that he has a valid point, things do look better in photos than IRL, and had I received the new Discs like that and had the same scratches that he can feel, I too would have "backed 'em", but also in agreement with Tusabes, that if it was just the grey coating that was damaged, and the Discs underneath were good, I would have fitted them, in actual fact I use Brake Cleaner and clean that grey coating off of the Friction surface ;)

Now, had 01-MB-S500 been say a 15 post Noob I would have acted with a PM and maybe even a weeks "cooling off period" if I didn't get the right reply ;)

So, not a dig at anyone on here, it is as some of you correctly say starting to become a common occurrence on the Forum, so the purpose of this reply is just a gentle reminder that whilst I don't want to swing the "Mod Hammer" ever, I will if I have to ;)

Misteaks happen, unfortunately. What matters is how they correct the mistake.

I have bought pads, rotors, and many other parts over 2 decades from Autohaus for 2 BMWs, 3 Porsches and one E350.

All experiences have been excellent. Excellent prices, easy to use wensite, and fast shipping.

Back to the autohausaz issue; they have been my primary parts source since 2009, however I've used FCP Euro and ECS Tuning on other occasions. Usually what I order arrives just fine, but on several occasions I've had to complain. Once a CV joint kit showed up in an oily box with grimy fingerprints on it, another time an air filter came in a box all crushed and torn. The filter inside was flexible and usable, but I still sent photos to their customer service person. They apologized and said that the people involved would be properly re-trained, and I think that they reversed the charges on those parts.

I just received an international package from autohausaz for my smart car clutch actuator.

Packaging was double boxed and had partitions in it to prevent any movement. The only disappointing part was that it took a very long time to receive as an international express item via UPS.

On the other hand PelicanParts sent my R129 rotors 2 per box with paper packaging very neat and tidy, always prompt service from them and packages 99% of the time show up within 3 days via international express shipping.

I will continue to use pelicanparts as their service is superior to autohausaz.
