Anyone still using ATF 3353 in their 5G besides me? This stuff is getting harder to find and cost is starting to get prohibitive. Just paid $156 for 16 liters shipped. I may have to switch to Valvoline ATF.

Yeah............i know about Shell 134

What about using the fluids that the dodge guys are using? NAG1 is 722.6 after all.

Dang again! Place an order with another vendor. They sent me ATF 4134 instead of the ATF 3353 listed in their eBay ad. Going back at their expense.

Ackshually....it'll work, since it meets the 236.12 specs for 722.6.

But yes, if ebay listing showed 3353 and you didn't get the exact item, then good justification of return.

How long did Chrysler sell NAG1 transmissions after the Daimler split? Do current Mopars use 4134/ATF+4?

Are you averse to MaxLife?

Not really and I will make the switch if ATF 3353 becomes unavailable or too expensive. It's a personal choice, just like motor oil.

ATF 4134 is suppose to be backward compatible. I heard they have different viscosity properties though. Valvoline Maxlife at Walmart for $17.97 a gallon sure makes switching over sooner tempting :)

Deplore - Roger that - I've been using ATF+4, perfectly since discovering that the NAG 1 & 722.6 connection.

What I like us the ATF+4 meets the thicker viscosity spec, the original one of 236.10 our older boxes were designed for, not the slipperier 236.12 / .14 spec for 7 & 9 speed boxes.

The fluid specs read identical for 236.10 MB / Shell Fluids & ATF+4.

ATF+4 is Full Synthetic & is a widely licensed formulation by Chrysler lube division so it can be had in most major brands like Valvoline, Castrol, Mopar, etc and at most auto parts store.

O'Reillys has it in 1 & 5 gallon pails for $24 & $99 respectively.

I've done over 100k miles between our w210 & w163 great performance.

I try to drop 1/2 capacity each summer service & filter & 12 quarts every other year.
