1995 SL500 - Do replacement units need to be programmed? My iCarSoft scanner sees the ATA module but can't read it and my IR currently does not work on any door, no lights.

I found one reference about the ATA not having CAN functions, but not certain. Still nothing about programming or its relation to IR module and if that needs to be programmed as well. I bought a module from ebay to give it a shot. The part numbers are the same 140 820 57 26 [12] & 352 177 but there is a faint "94Wxx" code beneath 352 177 that is different on the units I can find for sale - the one in my car is a "94W34". Here's an example from the web:

Hi Rob,

Thanks for this great info.

No receiver on the mirror, it is a 1995 SL500.

No IR, no green or red lights are functioning on any door or trunk but I can start the engine.

Wife went into labor last Thursday and we just got discharged yesterday with a brand new baby girl. I *should have the time to fiddle with it this weekend. Will follow up.
