So I went to see if I could get a quick dyno in (ended up I couldn't) as I've made some slight modifications since my last dyno. Anyway, sitting there is a Dodge Viper. The guy is putting a supercharger on it with 11 lbs. of boost. That's just nuts.

Floor a stock 55 AMG and traction is already a major problem. You can imagine how useless adding 300 horses on to a Viper would be in most situations short of a sprint from 150mph to 200mph.

BTW the current Motortrend has a comparison test of monster rides, including a blown Viper.

Umm, blown vipers run 10 sec 1/4's or better. They put the power down using LSD (CLK55 doesnt have) and drag slicks. Im pretty sure that viper is either strictly for the drag strip or a garage queen.
And one more thing, running 11lb of boost on a v10 viper engine will add alot more than 300hp. A CLK55 with 5.7lbs of boost pushes 550hp (increas of 200hp), you guys do the math.

I stand corrected.

Sorry, I pulled the 300 horsepower figure for the blown Viper out of thin air.

Using compressed air, the figure is more like 600 horsepower.

The Hennessey twin turbo Viper coupe tested by MotorTrend this month is rated at 1100 Hp. What does shelling out another $100,000 and all that extra horsepower get you? A 0.3 second improvement on the 1/4 mile (11.7 seconds vs. 12.0 stock). Not worth it IMHO. To get the ET down into the 10s you must strap on drag radials ... and watch the tread wear off like a pencil eraser.

Wait, wait. Did someone just say that you can add a supercharger to a CLK55 AMG? Please tell me what the name of the company and their website. I have to check this out!
Yup, I would go with Kleemann but it will cost ~13k installed. There are other companies out there as well: HPS, HOP, Renntech, etc. Eventually I want to get a 55 and get kleemann s/c.
