MY02 E430
She now has ~230K. Just a couple of months ago, she had tranny issues and was leaking oil a bit. I spent ~$2K on the car - conductor plate was replaced. Then I found out a cracking noise in the motor was due to a belt pulley (the tiny one at the top of the motor) which had broken in half - I thought it was a bad valve. I had that replaced, along with the belt. I also had my local mechanic replace the upper chamber gaskets and the valve cover gaskets. The car now runs very quiet and great. So great that I drove her to FL from MD for work (folks, watch the SpaceX launch tomorrow). This old lady is purring like she is new - what a joy to drive. The one "not so good" thing I have noticed is that since the conductor plate replacement, the car takes too much time to respond to WOT. I smash down on the throttle, and 2 seconds later, or so, the car responds. It used to be almost instantaneous prior to replacing the conductor plate. I'll take any suggestions. Thanks. I am really looking forward to the trip back home. I was actually planning on getting rid of the car due to all the apparent issues. Not anymore.

Engine off, all windows closed, AC/Climate Off
Turn the Key to the "on" position (the position right before you start your engine)
Press and hold your gas pedal down for like 5 seconds
Turn Key to "off" position (don't remove the key) and then release the gas pedal.
than wait about 2 minutes or so inside the car, don't turn anything ON or open the door for at east 2 mins.

afterwards, go drive your car the way you like to drive it and your transmission will readjust/relearn your style of driving (after like 5 minutes or so)

UPDATE

Thanks. I'll try that.
I did the reset after my last post yesterday. My observations are purely quantitative - I wish I'd done a qualitative test prior to the reset...., my bad.

With Climate Control (CC) off, the car responded measurably quicker - small throttle inputs brought power almost immediately. With CC on, the response was not as catlike as with CC off, but better than before. That was on local roads.

Today I was on the highway, CC on all the way. The response is better than before, but I'm struggling to say it is same as prior to replacing the conductor plate - could be because I don't have any real supporting qualitative data. Regardless, my conclusion is that this reset helped.

By the way hamada128, if I repeat the process again, will my response become twice better?

Also, FYI to all, it's not like the car is anemic - the 2s delay is still pretty quick when passing. I'm just seeking knowledge.

Repeating the reset process will NOT improve it by X2. It will just keep resetting the transmission over and over.
I usually do the reset every couple months on my W210/E320 and W140/S320 and the throttle response is noticeable like yours especially with there is no load on the engine such as the AC.
