I few months ago I got a 1980 240D and I just started to get a squealing sound from the front right brake. Whenever I apply light pressure, the brake squeals, but when stronger pressure is applied it does not. I'm thinking about taking a look at the brake pads. Is it possible my pad still has asbestos? I know its been changed in at least the last few years. How can I deal with asbestos safely?
Thanks,
The sqeaking means that it is time for you to wash your car. It is caused by excess break dust build up on the discs and pads. Spray out the wheels and they should be fine.
