This morning I dropped off the SLK for the 4th trip to the dealer (3rd attempt) to attempt to fix my Check Engine light. Got a call around 3 that the car refused to talk to the new computer they were installing and after repeatedly discussing the problem with MB it still wasn't working. So far, I have one scratched wheel and a scratch on the hood to show for it but since I didn't see it right when I left the dealer. I am getting very frustrated.

One more trip and it's time to declare it a lemon. Anyone gone through this process before? Hope it doesn't come to that but is it a pain in the but to get done?

I really feel for you. If their machine cannot even communicate with the car to fix it, I would demand a new car. Each state has different Lemon Law requirements as to how long you have to wait and how serious the problem has to be. I am sure you can find info for your state thru a Google Search. The downside, even if they would replace the car, is having to wait for it again[V]

Here is the Lemon Law web site with the laws for all 50 states and DC. Good luck!

I haven't seen my car in 3 weeks due to lousy weather. Malibu is looking better all the time.
Yes, we do have nice weather most of the time but then we have the earthquakes, mudslides, rock slides and houses falling off the hillsides.Just 2 weeks ago this boulder fell onto one of our major connecting roads (Topanga Canyon) just missing a car and closing the road for several weeks....oh, but then we have nice weather[8D][:D][8D]

Picked up the car today. After the trouble yesterday, their head mechanic finally got it all sorted out. Hopefully it all better now.

Weird thing is that I could swear that the engine sounds different (smoother) with the new computer. May be my imagination. They said they thought it was a bad ground in the computer so maybe it's actually running better.

They fixed the scuff on the wheel as well so I am back to happy again.
