areowings

I've been reading some posts regarding areowings for our SLK's.
These seem to involve a variety of products, each with different takes on addressing this matter.
I was wondering which areowing product that forum members have purchased have met or exceeded their expectations.
Ease of installation, how the product looks on the SLK, etc.

Your install and areowings looks great.

I checked out the website offereing yours, but this isn't in English and I am not sure they would sercive a U.S. customer.
Yes, they do provide a world service.
If you want to order the aerowings, you can ask some informations to Marcus Piecha ([email protected]).
He speaks english and he is very reactive.
We got our order from them and I am installing them today. Got the chrome ones. great service and a quality product. Instructions are in German but it shouldn't be to hard. These have a clear rubber stick on for the underside of the product to protect the finish of the hood.
www.r171.co.uk sells them in matt and chrome.
anyone knows which of these two is the slk55 equiped
with?

I haven't try them yet, found this on another forum.

Sees like the above link doesn't work and I can't seem to be able to link it correctly. Just add 'for my mercedes' (one word w/o the space, for some weird reason everytime I type it in as one word it disappears when I preview?) after the // and before the .com
Installed my aerowings from Germany yesterday, they sure look sweet and dress up the hood. I got the polished ones and are made from billet. Easy install and a quality product.

It is my observation that vendors that are not sponsors (paid revenue) and might compete with the sponsors of this board wind up being blocked....[;)]
What are the differences between the agentur-piecha.de product and the MB's areowings that come with the SLK55 AMG model?
Are they the same style, look and pricing?

I thought it was something on those lines, thanks for confirming it.
From what I know the MB ones come as a set with the grates and the aerowings combined and installed and you just replace the grates. The MB ones are plastic and have black rubber on the bottom to protect the finish. The other from Germany are what I bought. They are machined from billet and are either brushed or polished and bolt on from the back side. They are high quality and have a clear rubber strip you apply to the underside to protect the finish. I have the polished ones and they look great. Easy to install. You have to remove a cover 5 screws on the drivers side to gain full access.
I ordered mine from Germany after reading this thread! Do you remember how long it took for delivery?
stroubidoul......yours are quite sweet looking!!! Good for you! Happy to see them installed. I think the slks' for the price we pay, should have at least come with those bad boys!!!!

I have mine from performance products, I don't have images to show you guys as they should be coming today. Fingers crossed.

The ones from performance products aren't as intricate as yours I don't think. I think the version I got is some sort of stick on type of deal. I'm unsure as I have not spoken to anyone who has got theirs from performance products.

I'll definetly be sort of let down if they are just stuck on in comparison to yours having a REAL installation......we will soon find out.

Your car looks awsome...many congrats on getting them. Do you have any of the accessories from performance products?

For delivery from Germany I ordered around the Easter holiday and I was quoted around 3 weeks for delivery but I got them in 2 weeks.

Above someone asked the difference versus the MB factory ones. The factory ones come with the grates and you replace the whole thing. The MB ones are Plastic!!!! for all the money. I like the machined look of billet. I know I need to post some pics.
I'm unsure as mine have not arrived yet....

I would imagine that they are just chromed plastic like many other accessories out there in the states.

I've never seen them in person...and I have not spoken with anyone else who has had them. Besides the ones pictured in this thread which are gorgeous.

There must be a huge price difference in the aerowings, actually, I'm going to call them now and ask, give me one hot second...

Ok, apparently they CLIP on....rather than being stck on, so that's a bit better although I'm not so happy that people can just walk away with these little things! I mean, sure they weren't THEE most expensive thing to get but after all, they were not the cheapest either and they don't screw on like the member pictured above.....

If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for the ones where you screwed them on? Also, were the ones that can screw on, avilable in chrome rather than a polished matte look?

Around $140 US for the set. I have the polished ones and they look great on the Obsidian Black. I am out of town and wil try to post pics this weekend. I have the Polished cross member wing on the front and want to match that polished finish.
Hey UTN

I purchased and installed the chrome polished look areowings from Perfomance Products. You're right. They are plastic and do "clip" on. Each wing has slots cut into a "footing" on each side of the wing. The slots match exactly where they need to be snapped into the grill. They come with a placement diagram. No one will be able to walk by and just pluck them off your car. It takes some force to pinch them into the slots. Someone would be hovering over your vehicle for quite some time if they were attempting to steal them. If I were to do it again, I would get the billet metal aerowings as described in this thread. Overall, I think they look great and were relatively inexpensive compared to the other options.
Just received my set of bonnet spears and side fender spears from Schatz of Munich, Germany. The product quality is first rate. I ordered these parts on 4-25 via the internet and they arrived in perfect condition on the early afternoon of the 28th.

I ordered them through Park Place Motor Cars in Dallas, Texas.

What great service!!
