Hello Everyone,
I do not own a w221 for several reasons, but mainly because I am only 17. However, I do own the flagship Mercedes from the late 80s, a 1987 black on tan 560sel with AMG upgrades. Now to the point, I was wondering if you, the modern Mercedes owner really appreciates the history of the brand. Please do not take offense to this question, because none is implied. How many of you w221 owners actually wash your own Mercedes, instead of letting some car wash scratch the hell out of the paint and treat you S class as if was a kia. How many owners here turn and nod your head at the old Mercedes next to you at the light. I hope everyone here understands the S class history, and if not, tries to because there is so much history behind the S class from the infamous 1970s
450sel 6.9, to the 560sec found in Miami in the 80s, and then the 600sel crusing the autobahn at 150mph listening to something new, the CD.

All Mercedes owners who remember the classic Mercs will always be disappointed with their new designs. The Mercedes designers do not understand the essence of Mercedes Benz German design, because most designers are not even German. Look at the 300sel 6.3 for example. That is a car that ooozes MERCEDES. The w116 and the w126 both say Mercedes Benz at a glance. If you look at the w140, which is still a great car, you can see the begining of the end of the classic designs in my humble opinion. Then came the w220 which was the offspring of the w140 trying to survive the socialist stranglehold placed upon it from the Clinton Administration years (keep in mind the designs are made several years before release). Lastly, we come to the w221, a car that could not make up its mind, being designed under the capitalist boom of the early to mid 2000s, and then being sold during part of the recession. What is going on with Mercedes Design is also going on with Ford, GM, and many other brands. How can a Korean design the new retro Camaro, who thinks Bobs Big Boy is a clothing line. Look at what Mercedes automobile got the German foot into the American market, the mercs of the 1970s. Just think if Mercedes remade a 560sl with all the modern goodies, or any other classic Merc. I mean, look how Mercedes butchered, I mean butchered the SLS. Hell, even Mercedes is ashamed to call it a Gullwing

Hey, why do you make a big deal of this ?
Mercedes Benz has been making great cars since its establishment . However, I believe, each S Class gets better and better in design wise .
I liked W140 but they look boring and grill design is too poor for a car of this class . I mean it needed a bigger chrome grill as W126s .
When you park your W126,W140 next to Cadillac Broughams , there is no brainer which of these will get more attraction .
Thankfully, W221 is a the best looking S Class ever made and nose and front end as other Mercedes Models is a slightly V shaped . This gives a superb design detail . I will be honest with you this time Mercedes has been doing great and Mercedes is a better looking than that of Cadillacs and other Americans
Why older Americans look so cool ? It's because they were designed in details and new Mercedes design lay out magnificient and better looks than Americans
I have noticed that even A Class gets a good detailing job in design wise ;)

what a pyscho this kid is.
Whats going on OliverK,
I am messaging you regarding the comment "What a psycho this kid is". First off, when an educated individual disagrees with someone's opinion, they usually play devil's advocate. I found your reply very funny and telling, especially for a BIG MAN like yourself. When calling me a kid, you obviously tried to downgrade me, and then your ego meter would again read full. I assume you are a very mature and highly educated adult, so why did you simply call me a "psycho" because you disagreed with me. I hardly doubt great men like Ben Franklin, Winston Churchill, and Ronald Reagan would reply with the finesse as you did. Lastly, if one of the reasons why you called me a "psycho was because my user name is "Der bomber", then you are as foolish as you have acted. For your information, I love history, and have traced my American heritage to the time of the Revolution. On one side of my family, I proudly have Cherokee blood, where my ancestors where forced to travel thousands of miles on foot in freezing conditions without blankets and food. You probably thought that the term bomb and a German word der means Terrorist and Nazi, and of my God, the KID likes classic cars, CRUCIFY that KID. I hope that someday if you have the huevos to have kids, that they are cyber bullied, especially by a BIG ADULT, because that has what you have done to me. I sincerely hope that by showing you the error of your ways will help make everyone respect you more such as in the work place, or with family and friends.
Look forward to hearing from you OliverK,
Der bomber
